LAKE JACKSON — Woodshore Community Services Foundation recently presented a $5,000 check to the Brazosport College Foundation to put toward emergency aid for students.

This is Woodshore’s fourth gift to Brazosport College since 2016. Woodshore made $250 gifts to the College in 2016 and 2017, and a $300 gift in 2019 in support of the school’s annual Career Fair event.

“When I learned about the existence and community-focused purpose of the Woodshore Foundation, I knew the funds would meet a growing need at the college — literally just down the street,” Capristo said. “I know many of BC’s students were appreciative of these funds as the pandemic continued. It is rewarding to be a Woodshore resident and know that residents are not just living in this community, we are reinvesting in it through our neighborhood’s foundation.” Konopka was also pleased to have the opportunity to assist BC students during these difficult times.

“Woodshore is consistently focused on ways to enrich the lives of our residents, as well as our neighbors throughout the Lake Jackson/Clute region,” said Woodshore Developer and President of DHK Development Doug Konopka. “We are all proud to help local students in a big way at Brazosport College during a year that has put people of all ages in financial turmoil. It is a privilege to be able to give back, especially during these unprecedented times,” he added.

The Brazosport College Foundation’s Emergency Aid Fund was created to assist students dealing with unexpected costs, such as housing/rent, utilities, and other essential basic needs.

“It is an honor that Woodshore chose the Brazosport College Foundation’s Emergency Aid Fund for this generous gift,” said Tracee Watts, Brazosport College Vice President, College Advancement. “Student success is the highest priority of Brazosport College and the assistance provided by these funds will enable students to continue on the path toward a degree or certificate despite these challenging times.”

With approximately 300 home sites, Woodshore is a master-planned community in the Clute/Lake Jackson area. For more information about Woodshore, visit www.woodshore.com or call (713) 961-0033. To learn more about Brazosport College, visit www.brazosport.edu or call (979) 239-3000.
